![]() | ![]() Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan (Uranium) Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin is a prolific uranium producer and is currently responsible for about one quarter of world production. Saskatchewan is also an important producer of oil and gas, potash, coal and gold and offers excellent mineral potential, strong government support of mining, and a stable permitting and tax regime. The company owns between 50 and 100% interests in ten separate properties within or along the margins of the Athabasca Basin. Virginia's exploration target is high-grade unconformity-type uranium deposits similar to those mined at Key Lake, McArthur River, Cigar Lake, McLean Lake, and Rabbit Lake. Most of the Virginia properties have now been investigated with deep penetrating airborne electromagnetic and magnetic surveys. Compilation of historic drilling and exploration work is ongoing. Follow-up detailed ground geochemical and geophysical surveys have been completed on some of the properties, to define targets for future drilling. MAPS Athabasca Basin | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
